Classique des Appalaches!
CHOOSE THE PART YOU PLAY
Find the volunteer role that best suits you for la Classique. There are several ways to help in any of the four key areas we’ve established:
It’s first point of contact with participants. You’ll be called upon to work on all issues relating to entries, the sharing of important information, as well as logistical aspects such as issuing of equipment to participants (bags, bibs, etc.) You’ll also be called upon to help feed cyclists throughout the weekend, both at Feeding Stations en route or at arrival sites.
Crucial to operations, your role will be to ensure a correct deployment of welcoming and funneling structures at the Start and Finish areas. Additionally, you’ll be charged with traffic control duties in these areas as well as around Feeding Stations or Restaurant Areas. We’ll also be calling on you to help mount or dismantle material and equipment (banners, tents and barriers) around the sites.
ROUTE & COURSE:
Responsible for the quality of the course, your role will be to ensure the safety of participants, both in the directional and other signalling, deployed in advance on the course, and given ‘live’ during the various events. Posted along the course, at critical intersections, and other strategic points in the communities through which we pass, you’ll work in partnership and with the support of all appropriate authorities (Transport Québec, Québec Provincial Police, public security, and cycle sport’s governing body in Québec: the FQSC and others).
INFORMATION & SECURITY:
You are responsible for the overall experience of the participants and others in attendance. Your primary job will involve being a visible presence and source of information for all attendees, while also monitoring and ensuring compliance with our on-site rules and safety regulations. You might also have to manage local traffic, both in urban areas and at access points to the different parking sites, working closely with local authorities where necessary.
IMPORTANT: All volunteers must be officially accredited. To receive this, each volunteer must a fill in a registration form and complete our free training, offered according to their chosen sector of intervention.
